Work underway to upgrade Decatur High baseball field

Work has begun to modernize baseball facilities at Decatur High School.

According to the Decatur Daily, the Decatur City Council awarded a bid to Bessemer-based R&G Waldrop Electric in November for the $243,450 project that involves the installation of new lights and poles at the field.

Tom Chappell, assistant director of Decatur?s Parks and Recreation Department, said the lights should be functioning by the end of the month when baseball practice begins.
